Recce the location for sound and control
Visit at the proposed shoot time to note daylight direction, traffic, neighbours, public access and internal noise. Ask which rooms, windows, signs and artworks may appear and whether releases are needed. Confirm the ability to control heating, music, staff movement and other occupants during takes. A compelling location can be impractical when sound cannot pause or the production is restricted to one camera angle.
Build a location plan around the crew
Map unit base, loading, power, toilets, holding, makeup, catering and equipment security. Provide crew and vehicle numbers, large items and the intended schedule, including preparation and restoration. Discuss floor protection, rigging, blackout, smoke, food styling and any action or sensitive subject matter explicitly. Agree overtime, neighbour management, rubbish and the condition handback, and keep the venue contact and production location manager aligned on every change.
