The Blackout Studio - Light-Sealed Black Photography & Video Studio in Wapping Hire, STU 22

The Blackout Studio is a fully light-sealed black studio at STU 22 in Wapping, East London, built for photographers, filmmakers, music artists and brands who want complete control over their light. At 26ft by 19ft with blacked-out walls and no daylight spill, it is the room you book when the lighting has to be exact and repeatable from the first frame to the last.

What the space works well for: editorial and fashion photography, music videos, artist portraits, album and single artwork, product and still life, brand films, podcast and interview setups, moody cinematic video, and any shoot that needs a dark, controlled environment rather than a bright white one.

What is in the room: a large light-sealed shooting floor with high ceilings, a styled lounge area with a red feature wall and velvet sofa that doubles as a second set, plenty of power, and space to work comfortably with a full crew and lighting rig. Load in, set up, shoot and reset all inside your booked hours.

Equipment: a studio lighting and grip package is available as an upgrade at £200 per booking day. Tell us what you are shooting and we will advise on the right setup. You are also welcome to bring your own kit.

Opening hours are 08:00 to 22:00 seven days a week. There is no curfew and overnight sessions are available on request. Minimum hire is one hour.

Getting here: Wapping Overground is a five minute walk, Shadwell DLR is seven minutes, and Shoreditch and Canary Wharf are both around ten minutes away.
