Kids birthday parties are always a blast, and one thing that adds to the excitement is the party bags! Party bags are a fun way to thank your party guests for coming and ensure they leave with a smile on their faces. If you're hosting a kids party and want to make the best party bags ever, we've got you covered!

Here are 8 tips to help you create fabulous party bags:

Tip 1. Plan ahead:

Start by creating a list of ideas for your kids party bag filler ideas well in advance. Consider the theme of the party and what items would complement it perfectly.

How-To:

For a dinosaur themed party bag, for example, fill it with a dinosaur toy or a book like Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs by Ian Whybrow and Adrian Reynolds. Check out this great website here to find perfect books for every theme.

Tip 2. Customise the bags:

Adding a personal touch to the party bags will make them super cute and extra special. Include each child's name on their bag to make them feel unique and appreciated.

How-To:

You can do this by simply writing on the party bag in pen or you can get creative and add name labels to each bag.

Tip 3. Perfect Party gifts:

Choose items to put in the party bags are suitable for the age group attending the party. Avoid small parts for toddlers and opt for more challenging toys for older kids.

How-To:

When looking for toys, search by age rating. Think about any small parts or battery operated elements as these are not good for younger guests. If you are adding food items into your bags, it is good to think about what is safe for each age range too. Some sweet treats can be choking hazards for little ones so avoid hard boiled sweets and things like that.

Tip 4. Get creative with packaging:

Instead of plastic bags, think outside the box and use unique containers or fabric bags. Mini backpacks, small buckets, or even decorated paper bags can add a fun twist to the party bags. Having a plastic alternative is also much much better for the environment too!

How-To:

Paper party bags are a great plastic free alternative. There are plenty of options out there for paper party bags both online and in the shops. If you plan ahead you can even make your own party bags and it is super simple. Check out this really quick tutorial here.

Tip 5. Include a mix of treats:

Tip 6. DIY crafts:

Encourage creativity by including a small DIY craft in the party bags. It could be a simple painting set, friendship bracelet kit, or even a mini science experiment. By going down the DIY route, you can limit the plastic toy content too!

How-To:

There are some great craft supply shops out there like HobbyCraft, who have lots of party supplies. They even have paint your own kits that are perfect for party bags.

Another option is to buy items in bulk and separate them out into little individual bags for each guest. For example: to create your own bracelet kits, bulk buy some threads, beads and little bags. Then separate our your supplies so each child gets some thread, some beads and place them in the bags. You may want to print out a little instruction sheet to the bags as well.

Here are our simple bead bracelet instructions:

  • Step 1. Measure the thread to your wrist and then add about 2/3cm so you can tie it when done
  • Step 2. Happy with the length- cut to size
  • Step 3. Tie one bead to the end of the thread to keep it in place. Leave about 2/3cm at end for tying
  • Step 4. Add your beads to the thread. You can add as many as you want.
  • Step 5. Remember to leave about 2/3cm at the other end as well.
  • Step 6. Tie the bracelet around your wrist.

Tip 7. Include a thank-you note:

Show your appreciation by adding a thoughtful thank-you note in each party bag.

How-To:

You can find lovely thank-you notes and cards online or in the shops. If you want to make it a bit more creative you could create your own home-made thank-you note. Get your child to write on the note too for an added special touch.

Tip 8. Eco-friendly ideas:

Want to do your bit for the planet? Try using eco-friendly alternatives for the party bags, such as reusable tote bags or reusable containers. This way, you'll not only create memorable party bags but also contribute to a greener environment. You can also fill the bag with eco-friendly treats like home-made play-dough.

How-To:
