Very disappointed with my recent hall hire experience at Sarah Bonnell School. Despite paying £80 in advance, the hall was double-booked and we were told there was nowhere else indoors for us to use. We had no choice but to run our session outside on the hottest day of the year, during an official amber weather warning — with 20 children under the age of 5. Completely unacceptable. Support from staff was minimal and unhelpful. When we asked for assistance carrying equipment (as we were now delayed trying to set up an alternative space), we were told they couldn’t leave the front desk. Yet throughout the session, reception was often unattended and the door locked, causing delays as we had to wait to be let in or out. While a group of boys were fighting near the football pitch, staff were sitting nearby chatting with other boys who were playing football — and did absolutely nothing to intervene. They remained seated for at least 15–20 minutes, leaving the front desk completely unmanned. To make matters worse, during clean-up, staff continued sitting and talking while just watching us pack down — offering no help and making us feel incredibly uncomfortable. The overall experience was poorly managed, unprofessional, and left us feeling extremely let down. I would not recommend this venue for external hires.
